We were incorporated as Acer Display Technology, Inc., or Acer Display, under
the laws of the ROC as a company limited by shares in 1996. The shares of Acer
Display were listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange on September 8, 2000. On
September 1, 2001, we completed a merger with Unipac pursuant to a merger
agreement dated April 9, 2001, as amended by a supplemental agreement dated May
15, 2001. We changed our name to AU Optronics Corp. on May 22, 2001. Prior to
the merger, Acer Display was primarily involved in the design,
