CPRC was incorporated by Letters Patent in 1881 pursuant to an Act of the
Parliament of Canada. CPRC is one of Canada?s oldest corporations and was North
America?s first transcontinental railway. From our inception 127 years ago, we
have developed into a fully integrated and technologically advanced Class I
railway (a railroad earning a minimum of US$319.3 million in revenues annually)
providing rail and intermodal freight transportation services over a 13,200-mile
network serving the principal business centres of Canada, from Montreal, Quebec,
to Vancouver, B.C., and the US Midwest and Northeast regions.
We own approximately 9,000 miles of track. An additional 4,200 miles of track
are owned jointly, leased or operated under trackage rights. Of the total
mileage operated, approximately 6,500 miles are located in western Canada, 2,200
miles in eastern Canada, 3,300 miles in the US Midwest and 1,200 miles in the US
